Chadwick Geotechnics, in conjunction with our partner company Tonkin + Taylor, is delighted to have won the (ALDE) Association of Land Development Engineers award for Engineering Excellence and Innovation!
Our joint team were recognised for their work on the new residential development, Kinley Estate, at the old Lilydale limestone quarry in Victoria. The development presents a unique set of challenges, not least of which was how to fill a 120 metre deep hole and understand how the fill was behaving as the work progressed – something we believe is unprecedented.
Our challenge was to design a filling strategy and measure ground settlement across a large area, while ensuring ground behaviour remained suitable for construction.
Our solution – a novel ground settlement monitoring system – has had a profound impact on the project, improving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and risk mitigation. We believe this system could be a game-changer for future deep fill land development projects.
Winning the ALDE award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the project team, and their commitment to excellence and innovation.
We are grateful to the ALDE judging panel, and to our project partners Intrapac Property, Reeds Consulting, Bayport Group and Hume Partners.
